POLICE HOUSING IN WAR-TORN AMURU DISTRICT
The northern part of Uganda has endured 20 years of
war. Over 1.2 million people are living in camps for the
internally displaced. Their farms have disintegrated and
their fields are now 8 foot high elephant grass. With the
war coming to an end, the people have been told to go
home. However, they cannot go home until there is
security. Amuru District currently has no police housing,
no administration buildings, no health clinics, and no
infrastructure.
Partnering for Africa's Future and Dr. Moses
Musaazi
, the developer of the Interlocking
Stabilized Soil Brick Machine, have partnered with
the police and government officials of Amuru using
sustainable technology to build 30 police housing
units to help bring stability to the north.
